As your doula, Jill will meet with you at least twice during your pregnancy. These meetings will be used to get to know each other. You can tell Jill what you are looking for in a doula and ask questions. Jill will ask questions so she will know the best way to support you during your labor and delivery and will talk to you about any fears or concerns you have. She will be available to you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout your pregnancy via phone, email or Facebook to answer questions and chat about concerns.
If you would like, Jill can help you write a birth plan.
Jill will join you whenever you would like during labor and provide continuous support throughout labor and delivery. She will remain with you for about 2 hours after delivery to make sure that mom and baby are both doing well and to help ensure breastfeeding has been established. Jill is often able to take pictures during early labor and immediately after baby is born if that is wanted. Jill will also provide a birth story in the form of a timeline of the events that occurred during labor and delivery.
There will be a minimum of 2 visits from Jill after your baby is born and she will remain available to you for questions for as long as needed postpartum. By then, Jill will be more than your doula, she will be your friend.
Jill provides placenta encapsulation.
Consuming your placenta in capsule form during the postpartum period has many benefits. It aids healing and can shorten the length of time that you bleed. It contains prolactin and will help with milk production. The placenta also contains many hormones that will help balance your mood and emotions. It can provide a mood and an energy boost. It contains iron which is needed after giving birth. Jill encourages you to research placenta encapsulation and consider whether it might be something you would like to do.
